When the chicks from the creche site reach 1.2kg they\u2019re released onto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doc.govt.nz\/parks-and-recreation\/places-to-go\/auckland\/places\/motutapu-island-recreation-reserve\/?tab-id=50578\">Motutapu Island<\/a> where they join population of kiwi there. Anyone can visit Motutapu and Rangitoto Islands to explore, and sometimes visitors might be lucky enough to see a kiwi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-346\" src=\"https:\/\/mckhotels.co.nz\/gma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/AKL_STK_Local_Residents_tile4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\"><strong>Shakespear Open Sanctuary<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sossi.org.nz\/\">Shakespear Open Sanctuary<\/a> is an onshore sanctuary to many native species.
